Day 15-September 3: Even Better Than πŸ‘

God, You are my God; I shall be watching for You; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and exhausted land where there is no water. So have I seen You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and glory. Because Your favor is better than life, My lips will praise You. So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.
Psalms 63:1‭-‬4 NASB2020

❤️❤️❤️πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»Today Dad was extubated and he's talking!!! The team and we are so excited that he's made such amazing progress to already be extubated (this is much sooner than any of us expected!!) Thank you God for working through Dad's body and the medical team in his care in this way!!

πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»πŸ™πŸ»❤️Dad has been sedated and is still on a lot of medication. This is a lot to reorient to and will take some time for him to re-acclimate as the sedation leaves his system and the team works to balance his meds again.

The team reiterated how amazing this is and how much progress this is! This does not usually happen as quickly with people with this kind of injury and most people with similar injuries end up with a trach as part of their healing process and dad did not need that. Praise God!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ» It is amazing how He is working in this!

Also Dad's already talking about making some goals πŸ˜…❤️🀩

Starting NG tube for nutrition and oral medication until they can do a swallow eval and get him back to taking meds and food by mouth.

❤️πŸ™πŸ»Prayer requests from Dad

He expressed wanting to use his right arm/shoulder more- we explained the injuries on that side likely limiting his movements right now

He wanted his voice to come back (really raspy and hard to hear right now) & we explained with the breathing tube being in there for 2wks it will take time for his voice to heal.

He also expressed being grateful (we're not sure what he was referring to exactly as he's still pretty confused, but we're grateful too, dad!!! ❤️πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»)

Other requests:

Continued healing, that he doesn't get overtaxed but is comfortable and calm as he is reoriented to what happened and what's going on. God please protect his heart, mind and body as he continues to heal.

Rest and safety in traveling.

Continued prayers for the team, patients and their families, friends and family. ❤️πŸ«‚πŸ™πŸ»
