Day 14-September 2: Updates

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all people. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:4‭-‬7 NASB2020

I know that this peace noted in the verses above has been protecting us. ❤️ I know that it doesn't make sense, but truly "surpasses all comprehension" and yet, we felt, even in hearing about Dad's accident, that not only would God use it but also that dad was going to be okay. We are continuing to pray and to plead but also to rejoice in all that He's already done and all that He's going to do. We know He is near and he hears us. And that goes for whatever each of us are facing today. ❤️πŸ™πŸ»

☀️Today's Update:

His fatigue seems variable. Sometimes seems more tired. Could be related to the med changes or pain meds. Plan for EEG.
Formal reads from the doctor, course of treatment has not changed (πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ™πŸ»encouraging that EEG probably doesn't indicate seizures but we will follow up tomorrow)
awake on and off (likely related to meds), drowsy, follows commands, still trying to find balance between comfort on ventilator and ability to follow commands/alertness

On last day of 3 day course of ceftiaxone as urinalysis was suspicious of uti. Low grade fever.
fevers could be related to brain injury, WBC hasn't increased significantly

πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸŽ‰CT scan shows previous blood collections in the brain seem to be resolving. & blood collection behind left eye appears stable. πŸ™πŸ»More swelling of that eye may be positional with how he's laying in bed/gravity pushing it forward.

Seroquel (increased frequency) for agitation is less sedating & an alternative to prevent having to give more opiates. Oxycodone for pain to prevent withdrawal.

Continue with diuretic

πŸ™πŸ»❤️plan to Work on better pain regimen as he does indicate being in pain.

πŸŽ‰πŸ™ŒπŸ»Praises:

Much needed rest for some of our family today

Rest for Dad.

A great gathering of family and friends for praise and worship night!

Continued opportunities to show Christ's love to others.

❤️πŸ™πŸ»Prayer Requests:

For Dad's medical team to have insight and wisdom needed to care for him. Especially related to his medication balance (pain management, agitation, sedation, wakefulness), healing, best timing for extubation, eyes/vision.

For the medical team overall at Upstate and other patients and families that are receiving treatment/visiting.

Those on this road with us.

God to provide health and healing, restoration for Dad, protection, peace. And for continued protection and health for our family as we travel to see him.

God, continue to use this for your glory.

But Joseph said to them, "Do not be afraid, for am I in God's place? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good in order to bring about this present result, to keep many people alive. So therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones." So he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.
