Today has been such a blessing! Dad was discharged from Upstate and has returned to "Castleview"!!! ๐ฅณ๐ฅณ๐ฅณ Dad did well on the drive and made it home before any snow storms! ๐ Thank you for your prayers!! The JP drain was removed from his head yesterday as the drainage had essentially resolved and met criteria for removal. ๐ A not so comfortable experience but made it through! Thankful to have his dad there for support during the removal and got a few extra stitches as part of this process. Repeat CT scan was good! Yesterday had more opportunities to get out of bed and visit with family. Pain had overall been well managed with Tylenol for 24hrs plus. Today, got clearance to shower and had incision cleaned. Learned how to care for the incision and signs to monitor for infection/complications. Plan for follow up in 2wks with neurosurgery to have stitches removed. Dad reports already feeling an overall improvement in mood and feeling "more normal"!๐❤ Must s...
So many praises in today's updates!! ๐๐ป ๐๐ป๐๐ป❤️๐ thank you for your continued prayers. God cares and hears our prayers! ❤️ -CT overnight looks stable. Will continue with regular scans to monitor progress/assess for changes. It would show where blood is being reabsorbed & show swelling. -Neuro exams stable. -Just on fentanyl drip now; off propofol (sedation). Still sedative/cause drowsiness & help with pain but as brain continues to heal should continue to see more wakefulness. -urinalysis & sputum had shown white blood cells, but the cultures so far showed no growth. Current antibiotic- cefepime working well. If any growth today/tomorrow will adjust the antibiotic to treat the specific bug (if different than what is currently being used to treat). - the Shivering increased after propofol was weaned off. Currently seems comfortable & not shivering. -He's still maintaining a fairly high temp. -Oral Tylenol is now scheduled (& was scheduled overnight) s...
It is with saddened hearts that we share with you that Chas/Dad passed away this afternoon. It was all very sudden and Amy, Heather and Scotty were all present and responded very quickly. They were encouraged by EMS that they took all the right steps but believe that he had a stroke (the coroner confirmed that it was actually a massive pulmonary embolism) and were not able to revive him. We continue to trust in God, knowing that no matter our circumstances He is a good and faithful Father even in the hard and difficult things we face. Even today we have been reminded by all the blessings and miracles we've witnessed along this journey and continue to be touched by the ways that God used Chas to reach many lives. Dad had just reached out to several people this morning and shared with our family: "We know at least one we can share... accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior as they were at my bedside during my first stay in hospital! I was so stoked.. we prayed for them for years!...
