Day 12 - August 31: Day Updates

Not taking tube out today

Breathing on own for an hour got tired might try again later.

They have music playing 


❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🎉 Spontaneous breathing trial, increased in sedation likely caused him to tire out and not actually him tiring out. They will keep doing trials


🙌🏻🙌🏻🎉His swelling seems to be improving



He was squeezing my hand and nodded when I asked if the music was ok. I was telling him the kids missed him and He even smiled slightly when I told him Amelia says "I wanna see Poppy" ❤️❤️ he squeezed with both hands tight while I was talking to him ❤️🥰 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🥰🎉🎉I told him "pretend I'm giving you a big squeeze" and he smiled again❤️❤️❤️🥰 and then I said "we'll just wait until I won't squish you" and he smiled again 😊 it's so good to know he understands ❤️❤️❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🎉 oh God you are so so good! I thought for sure he was trying to say I love you too when I said I love you but of course the tubes are in the way.



❤️🙏🏻 Prayer Requests


Continued and complete healing! That Dad's pain would be well managed. And that the medical team would have wisdom surrounding eventual extubation (that the timing would be right and his body would be ready). Healing and protection of his eyes and vision, for complete restoration of vision.


We met some new families and saw new admissions today: please be praying for them and their families. For God to work in each situation, that they would see His love and support surrounding them and that they would draw closer to him. 


Continued prayers for those traveling this road alongside us: new friends and long time friends, family and those God has placed on this path with us. We're not alone here and we're not the only ones in need of the presence of God in our situation. We know and see God working in miraculous ways and we pray that He would continue to show us how to pray big prayers for all things. Our God is greater than anything we might be facing.  ❤️🙌🏻🙌🏻


Rest, sleep, healing and health, rejuvenation. Continued protection and provision.


For God to continue working in this in ways that we can't even fathom. For His grace and love to shine through it all, for His glory ❤️🙌🏻

Day 100- November 27th: Discharged!

Today has been such a blessing! Dad was discharged from Upstate and has returned to "Castleview"!!! 🥳🥳🥳  Dad did well on the drive and made it home before any snow storms! 😀 Thank you for your prayers!!  The JP drain was removed from his head yesterday as the drainage had essentially resolved and met criteria for removal. 🙌 A not so comfortable experience but  made it through! Thankful to have his dad there for support during the removal and got a few extra stitches as part of this process. Repeat CT scan was good!  Yesterday had more opportunities to get out of bed and visit with family. Pain had overall been well managed with Tylenol for 24hrs plus. Today, got clearance to shower and had incision cleaned. Learned how to care for the incision and signs to monitor for infection/complications. Plan for follow up in 2wks with neurosurgery to have stitches removed. Dad reports already feeling an overall improvement in mood and feeling "more normal"!🙌❤  Must say,
